Penn on Evangelism (You Do Not Want to Miss This)

“I don’t respect people who don’t proselytize. If you believe that there’s a heaven and hell, and people could be going to hell, and you think, ‘Well, it’s not really worth telling them this because it would make it socially awkward’… How much do you have to hate somebody not to proselytize?”

WOW!!

Thanks Ed

Haven’t visited your blog in awhile … great stuff on here, bro. loved the “tolerance” commentary. the Penn quote is amazingly objective coming from an atheist (or agnostic or whatever he is). wish more Christians could be that objective. hope i can be that objective. oh, yeah, one last thing: is that really Mike I-can’t-get-enough-donuts-and-ice cream-and-cake-and-chicken wings Tyson?

What’s the official due date? Are you naming her Jimmette? or ShaJimique? or going with the more refined Jamie? I kind of like the second one.

Thanks for the honesty Penn. I hope to be more like that man. I want you to know that I respect you as an atheist.

  3. Wow, it’s so sobering to hear a guy that doesn’t believe in God get it better than those that do.

    Hope you’re doing well Tim.

Spoken like a man who has never been beaten down before. He says he doesn’t respect a Christian that doesn’t proselytize because he thinks they don’t because it is socially awkward however, many Christians don’t because they have been in situations where they have been physically attacked, berated, fired, prisioned and even killed. I live in America and I’ve been attacked physically when I was in school for telling a person I was friends with about Jesus (not by the friend but by another student evesdropping). And just try doing a report, on subject in school expressing your belief in Christ and you’ll either be made to do the report over, get an “F” or even get expelled if you push the subject. And God forbid you are a teacher and wear a cross around you neck. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=34342 My opinion is that Penn doesn’t like it when a Christian doesn’t proselytize because then it isn’t as easy for him to identify them and berate them for believing in Christ. See the Showtime Penn & Teller episode called “Holier Than Thou” if you doubt that.
