We had our first Life Group last night. What a great group. Everyone was open and honest, and we had some great discussion. We have ten couples in our gang, and we are going through Choosing to Cheat by Andy Stanley. All but one of the couples have small children, so we are constantly feeling the work/family tension. It was encouraging to hear the similarities, and convicting to hear some of the places people have grown to that I need to get to.
We are really trying to make Life Groups apart of our fabric at The Bridge. They give the church an opportunity to de-centralize, allowing people to be in their natural context, while giving them an obvious opportunity to be missional. I know the idea is not revolutionary, but we have tried to be creative in our approach. Having done alot of research on how different churches do small/cell/life/house groups we feel like we have landed on something that will work for us. Check it out here.
